I have been testing Windows 7 Ultimate Beta for quite some time now on my Aspire one. There is nothing significant changes in the new Windows version, it is almost the same look as Windows Vista.(to whom had ever use linux with compiz, linux is better looking)
Some other software's i have installed on my machine is Norton Internet Security 2009, Microsoft Office 2007 and Sony Ericsson PC Suite version 4(only meant for connectivity purposes).
The installation it self was not that hard, it is very straight forward and less attention required by the user. The version I downloaded and installed was not very updated operating system.
There was always updates for my system for a week. Generally although my machine is only a netbook category, it still have enough power to run the OS fluently. There were only a few occasion where I feel my machine is sluggish.
Norton Internet Security 2009 works like a charm on this new OS, the same goes to the MS Office 2007, However SE PC suite does not work with this OS.
I also noticed that if you are updating or installing any software related to MS software, you will not be able to run any other MS program simultaneously or your system will hang and you may not get out from it other than powering off the system.
IE8 still do have bugs here and there, some of the web pages are not viewable with this browser, especially pages with lots of java scripts embedded.
Overall I would say that at least MS succeeded making Vista lighter and useable by netbook machines. I know that it is not fair to rate a beta version of OS but I still want to say that this OS is still suck at this moment of time, because the rate of hang ups are in tolerate-able.
