PCLinuxOS N1PTT-TR5

Recently PClinux annouced that their new beta distro for 2009. I have downloaded the OS and tested on my new Aspire One 150. right from the start the OS recognized the atheros wifi card installed and within a minute I'm good to surf.

Sound and vga also were detected flawlesly which enables me to listen to music and set the compiz fusion along with emerald theme manager. The card reader also will detect automaticly once a memory card inserted. The only downside of this OS is if you have left any memory card on it's card reader, it won't be able to boot at all.

Bluetooth does not work in this disto as the necessaries application/drivers not loaded in the beta testing version. After enabling the repositories address and adds the bluetooth application i have no issue connecting my usb bluetooth. I'm sure bluetooth apps will be pre installed in the full release version of this distro like it's predecessor (pclinux os 2007).

Palm Treo SmartPhone

There's new mobile phone in the market. I was surprised that this time Palm did not use their own software as the OS but instead uses Window Mobile. I never expect Palm would do such a thing but may be they are desprate as most of the mobile phone in the market are dominated by Sony Ericsson & Nokia.

Maybank2u Security

I realize lately that Maybank2u has taken extra steps on countering the phishing sites. Maybank2u users are now alerted in their TAC not to responds to requests by unauthorised parties.

There is also a permanent coloum on the frontpage to alert users on the existance of phishing sites imitating M2u in hope to steal users passwords. Now it depens to the users it self to protect themselves from being conned.

I personnaly urged users to read before logging in as this is also an education for them to secure them selves during web surfing. Whats important and what's not is there for them.

Sony Ericcson W7001

It's been a while since I last wrote. There's lot's of thing happening around since then. What I want to talk about today is my Sony Ericsson W700i which I bought at the price of RM170.
This phone was initially launch in April 2006 and at that time it is a cutting edge walkman phone before the W810 came into the picture. I have scouted around for this model and its alike (K750) but so far this is the cheapest I could get.
Average price for used model in the market is around RM220~RM280. I was lucky that I found this model that still have good hardware condition. The only downside of the phone is the wear and tear marks on the cover of the phone.
after bargaining the price with the retailer, I straight away find a shop for a new faceplate cover which costs me RM60. An hour later when I picked up the phone, its totally brand new look. I am really satisfied with this phone so far with its performance.
